Fontbonne Baseball Locks Up No. 2 Seed For SLIAC Tournament; Dobbs Becomes All-Time Doubles Leader
LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Fontbonne University baseball team locked up the No. 2 seed in the SLIAC Tournament next week after taking game one 8-3 and game two 12-11 over Spalding.

Game One Breakdown
In the first, the Griffins got started with a double from Thomas Purschke and a single from Daniel Youngblood had Fontbonne in business.
After a strikeout and a pop out, Ty Kueper came through with a single to center bringing home the duo for the 2-0 lead.
Spalding made it 2-1 in the fourth, but in the fifth the Griffins gained some breathing room. Youngblood led off with a one out single and Braeden Dobbs followed with a double.
The double was Dobbs 48th in his career making him the all-time leader at Fontbonne. He surpassed Jason Nickolaisen who finished with 47 during 2008-11.
Matt Helm hit a sacrifice-fly allowing Youngblood to come on home. Then, Ty Kueper stayed hot with a single to right scoring Dobbs making it a 4-1 game.
Fontbonne got another run in the seventh off a sacrifice-fly from Ty Kueper. Spalding made things interesting cutting the deficit to 5-3 in the eighth, however, the Griffins put the game away in the ninth with Ty Kueper hitting a 3-run shot over the right centerfield wall for the 8-3 win.

Game Two Breakdown
It was a scoreless game up until the third when Eric Creech led off with a single and Carter Lee followed with a walk.
Purschke put Fontbonne ahead 1-0 on a single to right center. After a fielder's choice, Dobbs singled to right scoring Lee making it a 2-0 game. Then, Helm cleared the bases with a 3-run shot to left, his 11th on the season, putting Fontbonne ahead 5-0.
In the fourth, the Griffins tacked on two more runs off an RBI double from Lee and a single from Dobbs to extend the lead out to 7-0.
Spalding scored two in the bottom half, but in the fifth an RBI single from Josh Rhiney followed by a two RBI double from Lee put Fontbonne in control at 10-2. The Golden Eagles, though kept hanging around scoring four in the sixth and one in the seventh trimming Fontbonne lead down to 10-7.
The two runs Fontbonne scored in the eighth proved vital with Helm and Ty Kueper each having an RBI. In the ninth, the Golden Eagles scored four runs on three hits but Tyson Wilson got out of the jam for the 12-11 win.
