GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Fontbonne University baseball team defeated Greenville on game one of the doubleheader 6-1 and then, Grenville earned a 14-4 win in seven innings.
On game one, Josh Rhiney led the Griffins with two runs scored, while Gavin Lyday led the team with two hits and Davin Smith with three RBI. Ty Kueper, Jack Reynolds, Bryce McKinnon and Smith each added one run.
Eric Creech, Kameren Brooks and McKinnon each hit a double.
TJ Schwartz was credited with the win on the mound. He pitched 5.1 innings and struck out four while allowing two hits and one run. Kendall Horton got the save with 3.2 innings pitched. He struck out two while allowing three hits.
On game two, Creech, Rhiney, Kueper and Smith each scored a run.
Smith went 2-for-3, with one homer, driving in three runs.
Rhiney went 2-for-4, with one homer.
