Bass Breaks MSFL Record for Most Tackles in a Season, Griffins Beat Oakland City
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University sprint football team defeated Oakland City in a come-from-behind style, 16-14.
Sophomore Avion Bass broke the Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) record for most tackles in a season with 88.
Oakland City put up a 14-0 lead in the first period. Darrius Pope had a 47-yard fumble recovery followed by a good two-point conversion rush by Jacob Lee. Jacob Lee scored in a one-yard run then the two-point conversion rush by Jamal Johnson failed.
Quarterback Temaj Taylor found KJ Burns in a 52-yard pass to score a touchdown. The two-point conversion rush by Trevon Patton was good.
Fontbonne scored two more points on a team safety.
Trevor Patton scored six more points on a six-yard run. The two-point conversion rush by Trevor Patton failed.
The Griffins will learn more if they make to the playoffs this weekend following conclusion of the remaining games.
