Avion Bass Named MSFL Defensive MVP, 12 Griffins Earn All-Conference Awards
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Sophomore Linebacker Avion Bass of the Fontbonne University sprint football team was named Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) Defensive Most Valuable Player, announced the conference office this morning.
Temaj Taylor and Chris Reckel were selected Offense First Team All-Conference. Zachary Alison was named Defense First Team All-Conference, while Markahl Humphrey earned Special Teams First Team All-Conference. KJ Burns and David Collins tabbed Offense Second Team All-Conference, Clayton Arrowood, Jeremiah Dorsey, and Donte Lewis were honored Defense Second Team All-Conference, while Junior Pisoni was named Honorable Mention. Zachary Allison and Kyron Washington earned a spot in the Captains of Character team.
Defensive MVP
Avion Bass is a sophomore linebacker from St. Louis, Mo. He totaled 88 tackles, 46 solo tackles, 42 assists, 12.6 tackles per game, 8.5 sacks, and 70 sack yards. He broke the MSFL record for most tackles in a season.
First Team All-Conference
Offense:
Temaj Taylor is a freshman quarterback from Chicago, Ill. He played in all seven games, tossing 10 touchdowns and 1320 yards.
Chris Reckel is a sophomore athlete from O'Fallon, Mo. He played in all seven games, receiving 23 passes for 318 yards, scoring two touchdowns.
Defense:
Zachary Allison is a junior defensive line from New Market, Tenn. He played in six games, totaling 32 tackles, 18 solo tackles, and 14 assists.
Special Teams:
Markahl Humphrey is a freshman punter from Hannibal, Mo. He played in all seven games, totaling 37 punts for 1262 yards.
Second Team All-Conference
Offense:
KJ Burns is a freshman wide receiver from Emory, Texas. He played in six games, receiving 13 passes for 458 yards, scoring four touchdowns.
David Collins is a freshman wide receiver from Berkeley, Mo. He played in all seven games, receiving 15 passes for 325 yards, scoring two touchdowns.
Defense:
Clayton Arrowood is a sophomore linebacker from St. Peters, Mo. He played in all seven games, totaling 52 tackles, 29 solo tackles, and 23 assists.
Jeremiah Dorsey is a sophomore defensive backs from Spanish Lake, Mo. He played in all seven games, totaling 51 tackles, 26 solo tackles, and 25 assists.
Donte Lewis is a sophomore cornerback from St. Charles, Mo. He played in all seven games, totaling 28 tackles, 18 solo tackles, and three assists.
Honorable Mention
Junior Pisoni is a freshman defensive backs from Pevely, Mo. He played in all seven games, totaling 34 tackles, 20 solo tackles, and 14 assists.
