St. Louis- It was a tight game today between the Fontbonne Griffins and the Spalding Golden Eagles, with Spalding taking home the win 83-79.
Fontbonne shot over 50% both in the field at the line while the Golden Eagles were 43% from the field and 33% from the line in the 1st half. With only 7 turnovers total in the 1st half of play, Spalding walked into the locker room leading 37-36.
Trailing by 8 with 16 minutes to go in the game, Fontbonne pulled to within 3 points to get their home fans back into the game. Spalding was able to pull ahead and with 1:33 left, gained their biggest lead of the game (10 points) at 77-67.
Fontbonne ran out of time as they finished the game with a 12-6 run.
Fontbonne's Greg Gentry finished the game with a career-high 25 points, including a final 3-pointer at the buzzer. This is Gentry's second time her has netted 25 points in a single game this year. Spalding's Thomas Blakemore recorded the game-high 27 points.
