Brian Fogerty officially inducted into the Fontbonne Hall of Fame
St. Louis, Mo. - Today at halftime of the men's basketball game against Spalding University, Director of Athletics Maria Eftink announced the induction of Brian Fogerty into the Fontbonne Athletic Hall of Fame. Fogerty, a 2009 graduate and only Fontbonne All-American was also introduced to the crowd by John Thomas, a fellow Hall of Famer and assistant coach to Fogerty. Thomas set the backbone for those present on Fogerty's hard work ethic, both past and present and also included words from the late Coach Lee McKinney on his vision for Fogerty as a freshman.
Fogerty is the 50th Griffin to enter Fontbonne's Hall of Fame. He was most recently inducted into the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic (SLIAC) Hall of Fame as a member of the 2014 class. Fogerty is the only SLIAC player to earn Conference Player of the Year honors twice and finished his career fourth in the SLIAC in all-time points.
Fogerty was a three year men's basketball starter, garnishing several caliber-level awards throughout his career as he guided the men's basketball team to three consecutive SLIAC Conference Tournament Titles. Fontbonne is the only team in the SLIAC to advance to NCAA Division III Tournament three years in a row (2007, 2008, 2009). Fogerty was a two-time SLIAC Player of the Year, three-time first-team all-conference honoree, and is fourth in the SLIAC in career points. Fogerty also garnished D3hoops.com All-America honors (Honorable Mention).
Fogerty leads the Fontbonne 1,000 point club with 1,756 total points. He holds career records at Fontbonne in points per game average (16.7) and most field goals (678). During his 2008-09 season, Fogerty accumulated 201 field goals, still the season record and in 2007-08 drained 114 free throws, tieing the season free throw record along with Roy Woods (94-95).
