Jacksonville, Ill. - After a close first half and 35-34 halftime advantage, the Griffins fell behind when MacMurray scored eight straight points for a 47-38 lead and held on for the win. Fontbonne's loss broke up a two-game win streak and lowered their record to 7-9 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
The Griffins managed to close the gap to six points with 1:23 to go but MacMurray closed out the game securing six of eight free-throw attempts.
Ben Kissing recorded the game-high 23 points while adding six rebounds. Tyler Williams scored 13 points for Fontbonne. Leading the Griffins on the boards was Richard Dorhauer with nine rebounds. The Griffins struggled from three-point range making 3-of-18 while MacMurray out-rebounded Fontbonne 45-33.
The Griffins travel to Blackburn Saturday and return to host Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday, January 27th at 8 p.m.
