Men's Basketball Drops Season Series Against Westminster

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—After posting a school-record 164 points Greenville on Wednesday, the Fontbonne University men's basketball teams offense was held in check against Westminster on Saturday, falling 75-60.
Fontbonne (4-17; 2-12 SLIAC), shot 43.5 percent from the field, however, they committed 20 turnovers. Jared Woodcock led them from the floor going 5-of-7 to finish with 15 points and six boards. Luke DeLine contributed 14 points, while Tristan Baker netted 12 and snatched down six rebounds.
Westminster (13-8; 9-5 SLIAC), ended the afternoon with a 46.0 field goal percentage. Kobe Wands was the story with his season-high 32 points on 11-of-22 shooting, including sinking five 3-pointers. Stu Hollandsworth was the final player in double-digits, netting 12.
In the first half, Kobe Wands gave the Blue Jays a 10-4 lead at the 16:12 mark. Later, they stretched its advantage out to 28-17 (8:35) on Hayden Drace's bucket. Over the next four minutes and 21 seconds, though the Griffins chipped away at the deficit and got it down to 28-24 on Baker's lay-up.
Then, at 2:19, Baker made his lay-up and got fouled on the play. He went on to hit the free throw to make it 30-29. Westminster got its lead back out to four (35-31), however, with 42.0 seconds remaining, Woodcock hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key to make it 35-34 after one half of action.
In the second half, James Wiggins' bucket gave Fontbonne a 36-35 lead at 18:41. Westminster went on to regain the lead on the ensuing possession and stretched its lead out to double-digits (50-40) on Kobe Wands' 3-pointer at 14:52.
One minute later, DeLine's bucket cut it down to 52-44, but the Blue Jays responded, getting its advantage out to 58-45 (11:50). With the Griffins shooting 40.9 percent from the floor and committing 11 turnovers, the Blue Jays never relinquished its lead and went on for the 15-point win.
Fontbonne looks to bounce back on the road against MacMurray on Wednesday night. Tip-off goes up at 8 p.m.
