Men's Basketball Sweeps Regular Season Series Over Westminster
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men’s basketball team had its offense going from start-to-finish in the 99-71 win over Westminster on Saturday. It’s the first season sweep for Fontbonne over the Blue Jays since 2015. Prior to the game, the team honored its two seniors Sean McGee and Jalen Wadlington.

How It Happened
In the first half, the Griffins owned a 22-16 lead at the 11:14 mark on Elijah Rice's old-fashioned 3-point play. At 8:49, the Blue Jays tried to stay with the Griffins as Steven Brandt made his jumper to trim the deficit down to 28-25.
Over the next four minutes and 26 seconds, the Griffins stretched its lead out to 40-29 after going on a 12-4 run. The team never relinquished its lead the rest of the way and ran into the locker room ahead, 48-38.
Fontbonne shot 48.6 percent from the floor in the first and were led by Anthony Jones' 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Rice added 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
In the second half, the Griffins offense came out on fire opening the first three minutes and 30 seconds on a 14-4 run to lead 63-42 on Jones' layup. The team continued to dominate as the clock ticked away with Sean McGee draining his 3-pointer to give them a commanding 89-59 lead with just over five minutes left.
It was all Fontbonne the rest of the way as they secured they 28-point win. Fontbonne put up 39 shots in the second half connecting on 21 for a 53.8 field goal percentage. Westminster shot 48.0 percent from the field but committed 14 turnovers.
