ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men’s basketball team opens the SLIAC Tournament on Thursday as the No. 3 seed and they’ll take on No. 2 seeded Greenville. Tip-off at 5:30 p.m., from Webster. The winner of this contest will take on the winner of No. 4 seeded Blackburn and top seeded Webster. The championship game will take place on Saturday at 3 p.m., at Webster.

A Look At The Griffins
- Fontbonne enters the SLIAC Tournament for the first time since 2014-15.
- The team earned the spot after winning four of its last five, including winning three in a row to close out the regular season.
- In its final three games, the Griffins averaged 94.0 points on a 49.8 field goal percentage.
- Defensively, they held opponents to 77.7 points per game.
- Anthony Jones led Fontbonne with a team-high 16.7 points on a 72.4 field goal percentage. Jared Woodcock, who netted 21 in the clinching game against Principia, averaged 12.7 points.
- Elijah Rice averaged 12.7 points, shot 60.0 percent from the field, and was second on the team averaging 6.3 rebounds per game.
- Caden Clark, meanwhile, averaged 10.3 points and went 16-of-20 (80.0 percent) from the free throw line.
- In the two meetings against Greenville this year, the Griffins averaged 145.5 points and shot 64.7 percent from the field.
- Jones paced the way with 35.0 points per game on a 62.0 field goal percentage.
- Jalen Wadlington averaged 24.5 points on an 84.0 field goal percentage and Woodcock was right behind him at 23.5 points per game.
- Clark averaged 17.5 points and 9.0 assists per game in the two outings.
A Look At the Greenville Panthers
- This is the fifth straight appearance for Greenville in the SLIAC Tournament. Last year, the Panthers were the No. 2 seed and fell 163-146 against No. 3-seeded and eventual SLIAC Champion, Eureka.
- Greenville started off the month of February winning five in a row, however, the team finished out the regular season with losses against Blackburn (133-129) and Eureka (137-129).
- The Panthers still went 5-2 in the month of February averaging 138.6 points per game, shooting 45.0 percent from the field, and draining 177 3-pointers.
- Sontiago Grady led averaging 19.1 points per game. Marvin Bateman (19.0 ppg), Henry Johnson (16.6 ppg), Riley Simmons (15.6 ppg), Austyn Contreras (12.7 ppg), Eric Williams (11.7 ppg), and Kameron Vinsel (10.0 ppg), all averaged double-figures in the month.
- In the two outings against Fontbonne, the Panthers averaged 142.0 points and made 45 3-pointers.
- Grady was the leader averaging 21.5 points on a 40.6 field goal percentage. He also shot a team-high 45.0 percent from downtown.
- Marvin Bateman averaged 15.0 points, while Johnson (14.5 ppg), Contreras (12.5 ppg), Kendall Edmond (11.0 ppg), Chris Jackson (10.5 ppg), and Quincy Pinkard (10.0 ppg) were the final players in double-figures.
