A Look At Fontbonne
- The Griffins are coming off a 2019-20 campaign where the team finished 14-12 overall and 12-6 in conference play which earned them the No. 3 seed in the SLIAC Tournament.
- The 12 conference wins were the most since the 2008-09 season.
- Anthony Jones was named to the SLIAC All-Conference Second Team for the first time in his career, while Caden Clark earned All-Defensive Team honors.
- Plenty of new faces join the Griffins this year but the team brings back Jones after he averaged a career-high 18.2 points per game, shot 58.3 percent from the floor, 36.7 percent from downtown, and 77.2 percent from the charity-stripe.
- Clark also returns to run the point where he averaged a career-high 10.3 points in 2019-20 and dished out a career-high 4.2 assists per game.
- Elijah Rice looks to build off his first-year numbers at Fontbonne where he posted 9.8 points per game on a 48.1 field goal percentage.
- Noah Coddington (9.0 ppg) and Gus Kleekamp (7.0 ppg) also look to make a strong impact this year.
- The team does welcome in Brent Wagner, Kevin Anders, Dalton Fox, Hayden Cole, Holden Laughman, Drew Cromer, and returner Carter Collins to the fold.
A Look At Illinois College
- The Blueboys, who finished 6-19 in 2019-20, already have two games under its belt this year as they earned its first win with an 85-79 defeat over Cornell on Sunday.
- In the victory, the Blueboys shot 49.2 percent from the floor and 45.8 percent from beyond-the-arc.
- Jake Mazrimas led with a team-high 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Troy Burrows added 19 and Hunter Ottensmeier finished with 13.
- Thus far, the Blueboys are averaging 85.0 points per game and shooting 49.2 percent from the floor.
- Mazrimas paces the offense averaging 23.0 points on a 51.4 field goal percentage. Burrows is right behind him averaging 19.0 points per game, while Benton Singleton is the final player in double-figures at 10.0.
