Jones, Clark, Kleekamp, and Eckert Earn SLIAC All-Conference Awards
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released the 2021 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Team and the Griffins came away with four honorees.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released the 2021 Men's Basketball All-Conference Team and the Griffins came away with four honorees.
Anthony Jones was named to the SLIAC Second Team for the second time in his career. Caden Clark and Gus Kleekamp were both named to the Third Team, while Trenton Eckert collected All-Sportsmanship.
Jones, a Wentzville, Mo., native, led the Griffins averaging 18.3 points on a 52.7 field goal percentage and shooting 44.4 percent from downtown in 12 games.
Clark, a Bethalto, Ill., native, is named to the Third Team for the first time in his career. Back in 2019-20, the junior guard was named to the SLIAC All-Defensive Team.
This year, Clark averaged a career-high 13.3 points per game on a 43.6 field goal percentage. He averaged a career-high 4.0 rebounds per game and dished out a career-high 4.4 assists per game. On March 6th against Greenville he netted a career-high 42 points on 19-of-23 shooting.
Kleekamp, a Washington, Mo., native, earns All-Conference honors for the first time in his career. This season, he's averaging a career-high 10.9 points per game on a 61.0 field goal percentage which is a career-high. He's also set new career-highs in rebounds per game (7.9), assists per game (5.6), and steals per game (1.6).
Eckert, a Springfield, Ill., native, is averaging a career-high 3.1 points per game and shooting 58.3 percent from the floor. He netted a career-high 14 points against Greenville.
