Game Breakdown
In the first half, the Griffins grabbed a 13-8 lead after Will Suellentrop's 3-point play at the 11:58 mark. The Red Lions took a 20-18 advantage three minutes later after Josh Donaldson connected on his 3-pointer.
Lincoln Christian held its lead for the next eight minutes until Cody McKinney returned to the team and drained his 3-pointer giving Fontbonne a 34-31 lead with just under a minute and 30 seconds left.
Fontbonne held its lead the rest of the way and got a late bucket from Suellentrop putting them ahead 39-36 at the break.
The Griffins shot 46.9 percent from the floor in the first. Suellentrop led with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting and pulled down seven boards. Anthony Jones was 5-of-6 for 11 points.
After nine lead changes through the first 10:00 minutes of the second half, the Griffins took a 60-59 lead with 9:51 remaining on Suellentrop's free throws.
They stretched it out to 68-61 three minutes later on Caden Clark's layup, but the Red Lions kept hanging out trailing 76-72 on Dominic Williams' 3-point play. However, the Griffins closed out the game on a 7-0 run en route to the 11-point win.
Fontbonne shot 35.5 percent from the floor in the second half, but won at the free throw line going 20-of-25 (80.0 percent). The Red Lions got to the line just eight times.
