Game Breakdown
In the first half, the Griffins led 6-4 early at the 17:04 mark on Will Suellentrop's layup. However, the Bears took over from there going on a 22-0 run over the next eight minutes.
WashU remained in control the rest of the way leading 42-21 at the break. The Bears connected on 17-of-36 (47.2 percent) from the field, outrebounded Fontbonne 23-15 and forced 12 turnovers. Jack Nolan was rolling in the first half going 8-of-16 from the field for 18 points.
The Griffins had its struggles shooting 33.3 percent from the field. Suellentrop led with nine points.
In the second half, the Griffins got the deficit narrowed to 59-45 on Elijah Rice's made jumper with 7:25 remaining. The comeback effort was not to be, though with the Bears holding the Griffins scoreless the final 5:40 for the 23-point win.
