Game Breakdown
In the first half, the Griffins remained in control early with Elijah Rice's layup giving Fontbonne a 29-20 lead at the 11:06 mark.
Over the next four minutes, the Griffins went on a 10-4 run as Will Suellentrop's layup gave them a 39-24 lead. From there, the Griffins stretched its lead out to 52-30 at 4:17 on Brent Wagner's 3-pointer and they held onto its double-digit lead the rest of the way heading into the locker room on top, 64-47.
Fontbonne missed just eight shots from the floor in the first going 26-of-34 (76.5 percent). Three players were already in double-figures led by Rice going 6-of-8 for 15 points. Caden Clark put up 11 points and dished out seven assists, while Will Suellentrop went 5-of-5 from the field for 10 points.
In the second half, the Griffins kept rolling along with Clark's layup at 12:45 putting them ahead 92-73. The Panthers started to make things interesting at the 5:00 minute mark with Julius Erby hitting his layup making it a 108-99 contest.
That'd be as close as they'd get with Fontbonne responding with a 9-0 run over the next three minutes taking a 117-99 advantage on Clark's two free throws. It was all Fontbonne the rest of the way securing the 13-point win.
It was another strong half from Fontbonne going 25-of-40 (62.5 percent) from the floor. Rice had 12 points, while Kevin Anders and Domonic Doolin came up big off the bench with 12 and 10, respectively.
