Game Breakdown
In the first half, the Griffins opened with a 17-8 lead at the 12:04 mark on Domonic Doolin's layup. Fontbonne continued holding its lead and stretched it out to 26-16 with 5:20 remaining on Caden Clark's 3-point play.
From there, the Griffins finished out the half on a 14-7 run with Doolin's layup giving Fontbonne a comfortable 40-23 advantage at the break.
Fontbonne shot 47.1 percent from the field in the first led by Elijah Rice with nine points. Doolin added seven off the bench in seven minutes played.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles got the Griffins lead down to 42-34 at 16:47. Fontbonne followed that up going on a 11-4 run over the next four minutes and 20 seconds with Elijah Rice's layup extending Fontbonne lead back out to 53-38.
Despite Fontbonne shooting 34.3 percent from the field in the second, the Griffins made it count from the line going 10-of-12 as they were able to secure the 13-point win.
