Game Breakdown
In the first half, it was back-and-forth play throughout with the Griffins having a 22-20 lead on Domonic Doolin's 3-pointer from the top of the key at 9:36.
Later, the Griffins stretched its lead out to 31-23 with 4:59 left on Kevin Anders 3-pointer. Fontbonne maintained its lead the rest of the way and went into the locker room on top, 39-30.
Fontbonne shot 41.0 percent from the floor in the first led by Caden Clark with eight points. Anthony Jones had seven, while Will Suellentrop and Elijah Rice finished with six points each.
In the second half, the Gorloks opened with 14-1 run over the first four minutes and change with Wynne Brown Jr., 3-pointer giving them the 44-40 lead.
Fontbonne got the 49-48 lead back with 12:46 left in regulation on Doolin's layup. The Griffins continued holding its marginal lead up until the 4:58 mark when Stephen Hawkins drained his 3-pointer giving Webster a 63-62 lead.
Then, with 28.0 seconds left and the game tied 68-68, the Griffins had an inbound play. Brent Wagner came off a screen, got a pass from Caden Clark and hit his 3-pointer which erupted the Fontbonne crowd.
Webster, though had one final chance and after scrambling to find a shot it was Mark Moore from way downtown hitting his 3-pointer to tie the game and force overtime.
In OT, after Webster had a 76-73 lead, the Griffins went on a 6-0 run with Caden Clark hitting both of his free throws with 16.0 seconds left.
After Wynne Brown, Jr., hit two free throws the Griffins sent Kevin Anders to the line with 10.0 seconds left. He hit the first but missed the second allowing the Gorloks to gain possession.
Webster pushed the ball up court and found Hawkins in the corner who hit his 3-pointer with just under two seconds left giving Webster the wild 81-80 win.
