CHICAGO, Ill.—The Fontbonne University men's basketball team continues its search for its first win on the year after falling to Bethany Lutheran, 95-81.
Things started out well for the Griffins in the first three minutes taking a 10-3 lead after Brent Wagner sank his 3-pointer.
Fontbonne continued to hold a marginal lead up until the 8:34 mark when Drew Sagedahl sank both of his free throws giving Bethany Lutheran a 27-26 lead.
The Vikings closed out the half on a 17-7 run leading 44-33 at the break. Fontbonne shot 36.4 percent from the field in the first led by Will Suellentrop with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
In the second half, the Griffins got the deficit down to 68-59 with 10:03 left in regulation after Drake Vogel connected on a 3-pointer.
Despite Fontbonne shooting 51.4 percent from the floor in the second half, the Vikings were right with them offensively hitting 51.4 percent of its shots and going 10-of-10 from the line en route to the 14-point win.
