ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's basketball team erased a 12-point first half deficit earning a come-from-behind 67-63 win over Harris-Stowe.
In the first half, the Griffins grabbed a 19-13 lead with 14:01 remaining on Grant Hasting's 3-pointer. Later, the Griffins led 24-21 at 9:27 but the Hornets closed out the half on a 21-6 run leading 42-30 at the break.
Fontbonne shot 37.9 percent from the floor in the first led by Will Suellentrop with eight points. The Hornets, meanwhile, an astounding 70.8 percent from the field with Alex Nunnally leading with 11 points.
In the second half, the Griffins started quickly opening with a 5-0 run and eventually took a 54-53 lead on Suellentrop's made jumper with 8:50 remaining.
Harris-Stowe, though kept hanging around taking a 61-59 advantage with 3:16 left on Nunnally's layup. Then, with 1:27 left, Elijah Rice came up with the steal and scored to tie the game.
On the ensuing possession, the Griffins put the game away with Grant Hastings connecting on a 3-pointer. That proved to be enough with Fontbonne hanging on for the four-point win.
