Men's Basketball Starting Five Each Reach Double-Figures In Win Over Westminster To Extend Win Streak
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men’s basketball team won its fifth straight game after knocking off Westminster, 89-79. The Griffins improve to 10-8 overall and 6-1 in the SLIAC. Westminster falls to 2-16 and 1-6 in the SLIAC.

Fontbonne had all five starters in double-figures with Caden Clark leading the way with 24 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Ethan Chartrand got his first start on the year finishing with a season-high 20 points.
Brent Wagner added 13 points, while Elijah Rice contributed 10. Will Suellentrop had his third double-double on the year with 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Adam Painter was active on the glass pulling down a season-high 10 rebounds.
The Griffins were cruising in the first half taking a 17-2 lead at the 12:53 mark on Rice's layup. The Blue Jays kept hanging around trimming the deficit to 23-17 with 8:33 to go after Brysan Jeffries hit his jumper.
Fontbonne outscored the Blue Jays 25-11 the final eight minutes to take a 45-28 advantage at the break.
The Griffins shot 47.5 percent from the floor in the first led by Clark with 12 points. Chartrand added 10.
In the second half, the Griffins remained in control leading 63-37 after Chartrand hit his layup with 14:44 remaining.
Westminster tried to make things interesting with just under two minutes left after outscoring Fontbonne 36-18 to make it an 81-73 game with 1:34 left.
However, the Griffins came through once again late at the free throw line going 6-of-8 to secure the 10-point win.
Fontbonne shot 46.8 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Blue Jays 41-34. Defensively, the Griffins forced 21 turnovers and held a 52-30 advantage in the paint.
