Men's Basketball Earn Share Of SLIAC Regular Season Title; Rice Reaches 1,000 Career Point Mark
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men’s basketball team are Co-SLIAC Regular Season Champions after a 135-96 win over Greenville. The Griffins go to 14-11 and 10-4 in the SLIAC. Greenville falls to 7-18 and 6-8 in conference play.

Brent Wagner led the Griffins with a career-high 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting. Caden Clark tied his season-high with 27 points, while Elijah Rice became the 17th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points after finishing with 17.
Andre Webb had a career day with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting and pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Griffins led 23-15 at the 13:45 mark after Adam Painter's three-point play. Fontbonne extended its lead out to 39-28 with 7:50 left on Rice's made layup.
The Panthers, though kept hanging around trailing 40-37 with 6:05 remaining. However, the Griffins finished out the half outscoring Greenville 26-9 taking a 66-49 lead into the locker room.
Fontbonne shot 53.3 percent from the floor in the first led by Clark with 19 points, while Wagner contributed 14.
In the second half, the Griffins stretched its lead out to 86-61 on Wagner's three-pointer at 13:59. It was all Fontbonne the rest of the way shooting 62.6 percent from the floor as they cruised to the 39-point win.
Fontbonne shot a season-high 57.6 percent from the field. The Griffins also set new season-highs in three-pointers made (10) and free throws made (27).

The Griffins have earned the No. 2 seed in the SLIAC Tournament and they'll have a bye in the first round. They'll square off against the second lowest seed remaining at Webster on Feb. 24th at 5:30 p.m.
