Clark, Wagner, Rice, And Johnson Earn SLIAC Honors
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the Men’s Basketball All-Conference Team today and the Griffins had four selectees.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the Men's Basketball All-Conference Team today and the Griffins had four selectees.
Caden Clark was named to his second straight SLIAC First Team and third All-Defensive Team. Brent Wagner earned Second Team honors for the first time in his career, while Elijah Rice earns All-Conference honors for the second time in his career making the Third Team. Marquis Johnson was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Clark, a Bethalto, Ill., native, posted a team-high 14.2 points per game thus far on the year, while shooting 42.0 percent from the field. In 14 conference games, the senior guard averaged a team-high 16.4 points per game and connected on 43.7 percent of his attempts from the floor.
Wagner, a Park Hills, Mo., native, is second on the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game but is a constant threat from downtown hitting 33.5 percent of his shots. In conference games, the junior scored 14.9 points, while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and a team-high 34.3 percent from beyond-the-arc.
Rice, a Cahokia, Ill., native, is third on the team in scoring averaging 10.3 points per game. He's shooting 46.6 percent from the field making it four straight seasons shooting above 45.0 percent from the floor for the Griffins. In conference action, Rice is scoring 11.6 points per game and hitting 47.3 percent of his shots.
Johnson, an Elmhurst, Ill., native, appeared in 10 games thus far shooting 42.9 percent from the field.
