Men’s Basketball Ranks First in SLIAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University men's basketball team was selected first in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced the conference office Tuesday morning.
"I appreciate the nice gesture and respect from the coaches," said Head Coach Lance Thornhill. "It's always nice to see our program picked as the pre-season favorite, and hope everyone enjoys another great year."
The Griffins finished last season with a 16-12 overall record and 10-4 in conference play. Their season came to a close in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
The team returns 13 players and welcome 10 newcomers.
The Griffins open their season on the road on Saturday, Nov. 11 versus Simpson in Fulton, Mo. at 6 p.m. Their schedule features 26 games with 11 at home. They begin SLIAC play on Saturday, Dec. 2, with a home game versus Principia.
Elijah Rice and Brent Wagner were named to the SLIAC Men's Basketball Preseason Watch List.
