Men’s Basketball Wins 2023-24 SLIAC Regular Season Title

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For the third year in a row, the Fontbonne University men's basketball team is the SLIAC Regular Season Champion following a 73-61 victory over Spalding. The Griffins wraps up regular season with a 18-7 overall record and 13-5 in SLIAC play.

With today's win, the Griffins secured the number one seed and will host the SLIAC Tournament.

By the Numbers

38 – Brent Wagner recorded a season-high 38 points, going 13-19 from the field, 8-for-12 from deep, and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line.

8 – Elijah Rice totaled eight points.

11 – Charles Nelson added 11 points to the win tonight.

0 – Brent Wagner pulled down six boards.

4 – Adam Painter, Cheikh Thiam, Kendall Horton and Jaylen Swinney each scored four points. Adam Painter also had four steals and Charles Nelson four assists.

With the number one seed secured, the Griffins will host the SLIAC Tournament semifinals and finals. Fontbonne will get a bye and go straight into the semifinals which will be the second game on Thursday, they will face the lowest seed 30 minutes after completion of the first game. Greenville will play the first semifinals and will face the second lowest seed at 5:30 p.m.
