Men’s Basketball Starts 2025 with Win over Principia
ELSAH, Ill. - The Fontbonne University men's basketball team started 2025 with a road win over Principia College 74-64.
Fontbonne improved to 4-7 overall and 3-1 in SLIAC play. Principia dropped to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Charles Nelson and Kendal Horton each scored double-digits while four more scored.
Nelson scored 33 points, he went 11-for-21 from the field, 4-for-11 from deep and 7-for-9 from the foul-line. He added seven rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Horton added 18 points, he went 7-for-14 from the field and 4-for-5 from the foul-line. He blocked two shots, had two assists, two steals and seven boards.
Kaden Augustine and Jordan Lewis each scored six points. Augustine also pulled down 10 boards with seven coming from the defensive end.
Christian Newcombe scored eight points.
JP Ruble dished in seven assists.
Fontbonne shot 37 percent from the field, 25 percent from deep and 76 percent from the foul-line. Principia shot 40 percent from the field, 26 percent from deep and 58 percent from the foul-line.

The Griffins remain on the road for two more games. They play Lyon on the 9th at 7:30 p.m. followed by MUW on the 11th at 3 p.m.
