St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne sophomore Brett Harris scored first after a slow start by both teams. Harris scored with 11:25 to play in the first half when Wilmington finally got on the board roughly six minutes later. The Quakers scored once more before Harris found the back of the net in the final minute on a pass from Jacob Greskoviak.
Wilmington dominated second quarter action, scoring the first seven goals before Fontbonne was able to slip in another goal before the half, again with under a minute remaining and again by Harris. Harris' hat trick would be his final net of the game.
Fontbonne's only goal in the third quarter came with under a minute to play once again, this time by Kyle Dahlin as the Griffins took advantage of a Quaker penalty, their only man-up goal on six opportunities. Frustration set in after halftime for the Griffins, who committed five fouls in the third quarter and four in the fourth.
Senior Joey Mirth and Marcus Seale rounded out Griffin scoring in the fourth quarter.
Austin Willenbrock committed three fouls at once, totaling five minutes, forcing the sophomore to sit out the rest of the game. During that time, Wilmington scored four goals, sealing the victory.
Fontbonne drops to 0-2 and will host Millsaps Monday, March 9th at 7 p.m.
