Griffins fail to convert win despite strong start

St. Louis, Mo. - After getting out to a 3-0 start against Midwest Lacrosse Conference foe Cornell College, Fontbonne men's lacrosse trailed 6-4 at halftime and ultimately lost 16-8.
Freshman Seth Yance made some spectacular saves during the first two quarters, keeping the Griffins in the game. The Rams scored four straight goals before Fontbonne rounded out third quarter action with a flash to the back of the net. The Griffins trailed 10-4 before scoring three goals to Cornell's two before game's end.
Mehrtens and Brian Nguyen each scored three goals while Joey Mirth assisted three times. Michael Picciolo and Kyle Dahlin netted one goal apiece and Marcus Seale set up Mehrtens with an assist.
Fontbonne will host their final game of 2015, on Saturday, April 25th. The Griffins are hoping to end their season on a high note, securing their first win of the season when they take on the University of Dallas at 1 p.m. at Centene Stadium.
