Schulz's late goal leads Griffins to tie

The Fontbonne University men's soccer team opened their 2012 season today with a 2-2 tie against Millsaps University.

After a scoreless first half, Fontbonne grabbed the first lead as junior Justin Williams scored his first goal of the season in the 54th minute. Junior Wesley Laney assisted the Williams goal. Millsaps was quick to respond as they tied the game off a corner kick just four minutes later. In the 61st minute Millsaps took the lead on a goal by Trey Fontaine.

Fontbonne found the equalizer in the 82nd minute on an unassisted goal by junior Josh Schulz. The Griffins held a 11-10 advantage in shots during the match and a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Griffins return to the pitch tomorrow at 4 pm against against Rhodes College.
