St. Louis, Mo. - The Wartburg College Knights defeated Fontbonne men's soccer 3-0 this afternoon. The Knights, who are currently ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division III are now 3-1 on the season. The Griffins are still looking for their first win.
Wartburg's speed and technical abilities on the ball allowed them a 21-8 shot advantage, leading to two goals in the first half and one in the second.
Senior Griffin goalkeeper Joey Mirth slowed the Knights' momentum with several key saves. Mirth totaled five saves in the loss.
Tempers were flaring early and the game saw 21 fouls, but zero cards were handed out.
Fontbonne travels to Illinois College Wednesday to take on the Blueboys at 8pm.
