ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Head men's soccer coach, Donnie Alberty, is pleased to announce Lucas Almeida to his coaching staff.
"We're excited to be able to have someone with the pedigree and knowledge that Coach Almeida possesses to join our staff," said Alberty. "Lucas and I have been acquaintances for a few years now and when I took over last August, the first call I made was to him. He volunteered as much as he could last year, but this will provide an opportunity for him to be with us on a full-time basis."
"His long term goal is to be a head coach at the collegiate level, so we're excited to have him on our staff and help him work toward that goal. Our program has definitely improved with this move."
Almeida, a Sao Paulo, Brazil, native, just finished up his fourth professional indoor soccer season and third with the St. Louis Ambush, where he posted eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points. His best season thus far came in his rookie campaign, scoring a career-high 23 goals and 19 assists for the Tulsa Revolution in 2014-15.
He spent his collegiate career at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, Ok. He's also played professionally outdoors with Mississippi Brilla FC (PDL) and Vermont Voltage (PDL).
