How It Happened
The Griffins had an early chance for goal in the fourth minute as Drew Moser's shot was saved by Connor Bandre'. Then, in the 30th minute, a foul was called on the Griffins in the box and a penalty-kick was awarded to Westminster. Justin Gerdiman came through with the goal to give them the 1-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, Bryan Carroll had an attempt just a minute and 15 seconds in, though his shot went high. In the 49th minute, Gerdiman struck again, scoring an unassisted goal to push the advantage out to 2-0.
In the 67th minute, the Griffins had a chance to cut the deficit down to one as a foul was called inside the box to give Fontbonne a penalty kick. Jarid Morton's attempt, however, went wide to keep it a two-goal deficit. Westminster kept the shutout intact the rest of the way as they went on for the win.
