Noah's Late Goal Lifts Men's Soccer Past Westminster

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's soccer team snapped its three-game slide with a shutout win over Westminster for its first conference win.

How It Happened

Fontbonne offense came out humming with some of its best scoring chances coming in the 24^th minute. Charles Gibbs had the ball in the box and had two of his shots saved by Chase Vogt.

His second attempt got away from Vogt and Trent Calvert had a shot at the open net but his attempt went off the top left of the crossbar and out of play.

Both teams had its fair amount of scoring chances with Westminster leading with a 9-6 advantage overall but after 45:00 minutes of play it was a scoreless tie.

In the second half, the netminders continued to stand tall and keep it a 0-0 game. Then, the Griffins finally broke through at 81:24. The ball was lifted up field for Joe Noah and he got between the Blue Jays defense, had his initial shot blocked but followed and beat Chase Vogt to the short side for the 1-0 lead.

The Blue Jays had one final chance late but Joshua Udinyiwe shot went over the net and Fontbonne was able to hang on for the victory.

• The Griffins finished with a season-high 12 shots.
• Noah netted his second goal on the season and led with five shots.
• Gibbs and Bryan Carroll added one each.
