ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 (2OT) loss against Greenville on Saturday.
Final: Greenville 2, Fontbonne 1 (2OT)
How It Happened
It was a scoreless contest up until the 10:47 mark when Tanner Harris' cross into the box found Bryan Carroll who headed it back near the goal for Dyllan Haggard and he headed it in for his first collegiate goal to give Fontbonne the 1-0 lead.
Fontbonne went on to own a 7-6 shot advantage after 45:00 minutes of play and still led by a goal. In the second half, the Griffins had a chance to extend its lead out to two at 62:14 but Joe Noah's shot went off the post.
Then, in the 80th minute, there was a scramble in the box for the loose ball and it found Juan Jaimes who buried it for the equalizer and it was off to overtime.
In the first OT, the Panthers outshot Fontbonne 3-2 but neither team netted the game-winner, so it was off to a second OT. In the second, at 103:35, Jonathan Moyo dribbled up the right side of the field and unfortunately his cross went off a Fontbonne player foot and into the back of the net for the own goal victory for Greenville.
