EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University men's soccer team fell 3-2 in overtime against Principia on Saturday.

How It Happened
It was a scoreless contest up until the 11:09 mark when a foul was called on Fontbonne inside the box. Seth Arens stepped up for the penalty kick and scored to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
That advantage was short-lived as in the 22nd minute Tanner Harris scored his first goal as a Griffin to tie the game. In the 35th minute, the Griffins took a 2-1 lead on Zack Lyeki's unassisted goal and first in his career to give them a lead at the break.
In the second half, the Griffins were hanging onto its one goal lead but the Panthers broke through in the 84th minute when Cole Heinbaugh found twine to tie the game. Both Charles Gibbs and Brandon Baumgartner scoring chances went wide right after the equalizer and it was off to overtime for the third time this season.
In OT, the Panthers struck just a minute and nine seconds in when Walter Lazo received a pass inside the box from Pablo Alas and he was able to beat Ethan Cowell for the game-winning goal.

"We had a game plan and I thought we could exploit some areas in Principia's back four. For some reason our guys were not really able to make it happen. So this loss is on me and my coaching staff. We obviously have to do a better job."

- The Griffins finished with 13 shots.
- Harris and Zack Lyeki got the unassisted goals.
- Gibbs led with three shots, while Zack Lyeki, Baumgartner, and Harris had two.
- Ethan Cowell made four saves.
