Men's Soccer Erases Two Goal Deficit To Earn Draw Against Spalding

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—After trailing 2-0 at the half, the Fontbonne University men's soccer team collected a point in the standings after battling back for a 2-2 draw against Spalding on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles got the night started in the ninth minute when Xander Shelby scored from just outside the box for the 1-0 lead.
In the 31st minute, the Golden Eagles made it a 2-0 game when Mustafa Almohammedawi shot was initially saved by Dominic Haggard, however, the loose ball rebound found Joaquin Flores and he buried his shot for the 2-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Griffins came out with a sense of urgency and it paid off in the 63rd minute. Carter Youmans got the ball from Brandon O'Dell, he raced down the right side and scored trimming the deficit down to 2-1.
Then, in the 66th minute, the Griffins evened it up when Brandon O'Dell blasted his shot through a sea of traffic into the left corner of the net. From there, both teams had a few scoring opportunities but were unable to break the draw.

- The Golden Eagles ended with a 12-11 shot advantage.
- Youmans goal was his fifth on the season.
- O'Dell's goal was his third on the year.
