ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Thanks to a second half penalty-kick goal from Joe Noah, the Fontbonne University men’s soccer team advanced to the SLIAC Semifinals after a 2-1 win over Westminster.

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Thanks to a second half penalty-kick goal from Joe Noah, the Fontbonne University men's soccer team advanced to the SLIAC Semifinals after a 2-1 win over Westminster.
The Griffins struck first in the 12th minute when Ian Steinkamp's throw in found Julian Tiflord and he scored his first on the season.
The Blue Jays countered offensively, but Dominic Haggard came up big with three straight saves. Westminster held an 11-6 shot advantage after one half of play.
In the second half, the Blue Jays persistence paid off in the 59th minute with Travis Bieg getting a pass from Collin Murray in the box and scoring.
Three minutes later, though the Griffins were awarded a penalty-kick after the Blue Jays committed a foul in the box. Joe Noah stepped up and beat Toby Hughes to his right giving Fontbonne the 2-1 lead. Haggard stopped three shots in the final 12:00 minutes securing the one goal win.
