CLAYTON, Mo. – Senior Joe Noah of the Fontbonne University men's soccer team tallied two goals in today's home opener against Maryville College (Tenn.). The Griffins has a record of 1-0 in the season.
Alex Wigge found the back of the net first in the game grabbing the lead for the Griffins with 19:49 on the clock.
The Griffins went into halftime with a 1-0 lead over Maryville College.
Joe Noah scored his first goal of the game in the 80th minute assisted by Julian Tilford to extend the Griffins' lead to 2-0.
Four minutes later Maryville started their comeback effort by scoring their only goal.
However, Ian Steinkamp passed the ball to Noah who once again found the back of the net to score his second goal of the day and secure the Griffins first win of the season.
Dominic Haggard played during all 90 minutes of regulation in between posts and stopped eight shots with five coming from the second period.
Maryville outshot Fontbonne, 19-17.
