ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University men's soccer team shutout Hannibal-LaGrange University this Tuesday evening, 2-0. The Griffins improve to 3-2-2 overall and 1-0 in SLIAC play.
"This is the second match in row that the boys played great," stated Head Coach Donnie Alberty. "We started quick, and I think that a big factor for that was it was fairly windy in the beginning part of the match. We won the toss, took the win and then it kind of stopped around halftime."
Only five minutes into the first period, Brandon O'Dell found Ian Steinkamp's foot to grab the lead of the game for the Griffins.
Hannibal-LaGrange had 10 opportunities to tie the game in the first half but failed.
The Griffins went into halftime with an 1-0 lead.
In the second period, Ethan Bromaghim scored the final goal of the night to complete the Griffins' shutout against Hannibal-LaGrange.
Blake Hinerman played 90 minutes in between posts. He stopped seven shots with five coming in the first half.
Hannibal-LaGrange outshot Fontbonne, 18-9.
