ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Junior Max Sarich scored the goal that gave Fontbonne their first conference win of the season. The Griffins took down Webster University, 1-0.
Today's win was also the first time they beat the Webster Gorloks since 2018.
The Griffins improve to 2-11 on the season and 1-3 in SLIAC play.
"Not sure that we can be more proud of the effort today," said Head Coach Donnie Alberty. "We have a ton of respect for Webster. They are well coached and we have had some very good matches over the years. They have always seemed to make a play when they needed to, but today we made the plays when we needed to."
"Dom was fantastic in goal and the back line played very well. We got a huge goal from Max and just a solid effort all the way around. Hopefully we can build off of this and rack up some points," he concluded.
In the eighth minute, Max Sarich scored the goal that gave the Griffins the win, assisted by Ian Steinkamp.
Dominic Haggard played 90 minutes in goal and earned eight saves.
Max Sarich, Stephen Pryk and Julian Tilford each had two shots.
Webster outshot Fontbonne, 20-14.
