COLUMBUS, Miss. - Anthony Dalton scored two goals in today's 5-0 shutout over Mississippi University for Women.
"I am very pleased with the mental approach today," stated Head Coach Donnie Alberty. "We seemed to be ready to play. I was very happy with how Pryk and Youmans created and finished opportunities in the first half. It felt like we could have scored the 3rd within the first couple of minutes of the second half, but sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way."
"I felt like the bench came in and gave us some important minutes today, specifically Dalton and Moreno. We got the typical goalkeeping play from Dom and Preston that we are used to. Finally, very happy with how the defense played all week. We have leaned on Max, Ryan and Conner all year long and they had an excellent week, specifically Max. Can't ask for much more than 2 wins, with 2 shutouts. Now just have to continue it throughout the rest of the season."
In the eighth minute, Carter Youmans scored the Griffins' first goal of the day assisted by Max Sarich.
11 minutes later, the Griffins extended their lead when Stephen Pryk found the back of the net assisted by Youmans.
Julian Tilford scored one more to increase the lead to 3-0.
Anthony Dalton scored the final two goals of the day assisted by Pryk and Ethan Bromaghim, respectively.
Dominic Haggard played 68 minutes on goal and recorded two saves. Preston Stork played 21 minutes in between posts and stopped one shot.
The Griffins outshot MUW, 26-7.
