St. Louis- Fontbonne University men's volleyball saw their 2013 season come to a close yesterday after falling to UC-Santa Cruz in three sets (25-11, 25-15 and 25-18)
Fontbonne spent the weekend competing at Carthage College in the second CVC weekend of the year. The Griffins fell to UC-Santa Cruz twice, Carthage and MSOE.
Sophomore Aaron Graue recorded 54 kills over the 4-match weekend and accumulated 34 digs. Setter Justin Winkelmann tallied 83 assists. Freshman libero Jimmy Stika helped Fontbonne adding 33 more digs to support the Griffin defense. Senior Braxton Payne was 2nd in kills on the team with 25. Newcomer Dominic Prospero aided the defense, collecting 27 digs and Senior Cody Schmelzle recorded a team-high 5 solo blocks.
