2014 Men's Volleyball Preseason

St. Louis-Fontbonne University men's volleyball is scheduled for their season opener to begin on February 8th. The Griffins will take on Eastern Mennonite and Thiel in Cincinnati, Ohio. The following day, Fontbonne takes on Marymount to conclude their Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) opening weekend.

Last season the Griffins finished 2-20 overall with an 0-9 CVC record. Aaron Graue was the only Griffin All-Conference performer last season. Libero Jimmy Stika led the defense, finishing 9th in the nation in digs per set.

Returning to the squad are sophomores Justin Winkelmann, Dominic Prospero, and Drew Lowrey along with junior Marc Viglasky. Second-year head coach Mike Haston hopes freshmen Zack Pelker, Brendan Keller, Zack Lokey and sophomore Peter Hibbeler will actively contribute to the team.

Fontbonne was recently picked 11th in the 2014 CVC Coaches' poll, returning four starters from last year's team. Carthage and Juniata were picked as preseason favorites. The full CVC Coaches Poll can be found here.
