Cincinatti, Ohio - Fontbonne University men's volleyball traveled to Cincinatti over the weekend for a conference matchup against Mount St. Joseph University on Friday, followed by a non-conference re-match on Saturday and then a contest against Cincinatti Christian University Saturday evening. The Griffins fell in three sets in each match (20-25, 23-25, 18-25), (21-25, 15-25, 21-25), (19-25, 22-25, 20-25) respectively.
Friday night Zack Pelker recorded seven kills on ten attempts for a .600 hitting average, his best of the season. The sophomore hit .444 against MSJ Saturday morning with five kills on nine attempts. The right side hitter recorded 17 kills on the weekend and averaged .343 over the three matches.
Peter Hibbeler was once again strong at the net defensively. Hibbeler recorded seven solo blocks and five block assists to lead Fontbonne with an average of 3.33 blocks/match while Justin Rujawitz totaled five solo blocks over the weekend.
Aaron Graue also recorded 17 kills with Stephen Lendy close behind notching 16 of his own. Lendy dug out 15 attack attempts as well with Jimmy Stika leading the pack with 17 digs. Jacob Lendy totaled 40 assists over the two days with Dominic Prospero adding another 24.
The Griffins head over to Dominican for a 7 p.m. matchup Friday and then to Benedictine on Saturday for an early morning 10 a.m. contest. Both games have live stats and video links on our schedule page.
