ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's volleyball team was picked to finish sixth in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League, announced by the conference office.

The reigning MCVL Regular Season Champions, Carthage, hold the top spot after claiming eight first place votes. Mount St. Joseph earned one first place vote to be picked second, while North Central, Wittenberg and Loras round out the top five.

The Griffins are coming off a 15-11 (9-10 MCVL) campaign which is its highest conference win total in program history.

As a team, FBU collected multiple team and individual single season records, including, kills (1073), assists (987) and digs (1187). Individually, Stephen Lendy became the all-time single season leader in attacks (788) and finished just 19 kills off becoming the single season leader in kills (278).

Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell, meanwhile, became the leader in the freshman records in assists (693) and assists per set (7.22), while Zach Rothstein led with 318 digs and 3.31 digs per set.

This year, the Griffins will have the advantage of familiarity and depth with the team bringing back most of its roster and top performers.   

Lendy looks to build off his team-high 278 kills, while Brendon Schwartze finished second on the team in kills (233) and fourth in digs (165). Junior TJ Vorva reached the 200-kill mark for the first time in his career and Emir Hadzisalihovic is coming off a 140 kill performance of his own.

With the amount of success they had last season and the talent they'll bring out to the court each game, the Griffins are a team fans will need to keep an eye-out-for as they've got their sights set on finishing atop the MCVL.

The team gets its 2018 season underway when they'll pay a visit to Adrian on January 26th. The Griffins first home game will take place on February 16th, also against Adrian.
