ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men’s volleyball team hosts a pair of teams this week facing non-conference and first year program Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday. On Saturday, the team welcomes in the Mount Union Purple Raiders for a pair of games starting at 10 a.m.

A Look At Fontbonne

  • The Griffins dominated the Comets over the weekend compiling 82 kills and a .299 hitting percentage.
  • Defensively, the team averaged 9.9 digs per set and totaled 17 blocks.
  • Ryan Lively paced the offensive side of the net with his team-high 27 kills and .297 hitting percentage.
  • Nate Paasch played well in both contests coming out with 17 kills, while Cameron Graves collected 13 kills and a .308 hitting percentage.
  • Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell kept the offense flowing with his 10.43 assists per set.
  • Zach Rothstein per usual led with 22 digs and now has 1,106 in his illustrious career. He's now seventh all-time in NCAA Division III men's volleyball history.

 

A Look At Illinois Wesleyan

  • This will be the inaugural match for the Titans after its first was postponed due to weather against Lakeland College.
  • The Titans are apart of the CCIW (College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin)
  • Leading at the helm of the all-freshman program is Brandon Mueller. The team has 12 players on its roster.

 

A Look At Mount Union

  • The Purple Raiders, who were picked second in the MCVL Preseason Poll, are off to a 1-0 start after a sweep of Alderson Broaddus.
  • The team plays another non-conference outing against Geneva (Pa.) on Wednesday before its contest against the Griffins.
  • In the win, the Purple Raiders finished with 33 kills and a .319 hitting percentage.
  • Justin Sibbel led with 13 kills and a .276 hitting percentage.
  • Setter Jeremy Leyden added 26 assists and five digs. Steven Grenier led with seven digs.
