(RV) Men's Volleyball Collects Two More Sweeps Against Edgewood And Augustana

DUBUQUE, Iowa.—The (RV) Fontbonne University men's volleyball team made quick work of its two games on Saturday at Loras knocking off both Edgewood and Augustana in straight sets.

Match One

Final: (RV) Fontbonne 3, Edgewood 0 (25-17, 25-10, 30-28)

Records: (RV) Fontbonne 3-0, Edgewood 0-4

Set Notes

Set 1: In the first set, the Griffins started fast with a block from Joseph Huster and a Cameron Graves kill giving Fontbonne a 10-4 lead. They stretched its lead out to 18-9 on Ryan Lively's service ace and cruised to the 25-17 win.

Fontbonne posted 12 kills and a .241 hitting percentage in the first. Graves and Lively tied with three kills each. Nate Paasch, Huster, and Woolsey added two kills apiece.

Set 2: It was the same story in the second with Fontbonne putting the Eagles in a 6-1 hole on Graves' kill. With the Griffins having a near perfect set offensively they dominated for the 25-10 win.

The Griffins had 11 kills on 12 swings for a .917 hitting percentage. Kolin Scharnhorst and Paasch contributed three kills each. Woolsey and Graves tied with two.

Set 3: It was the Eagles this time around having a 10-4 lead on a double block from Max Dermody and Dazerien Hicks.

Fontbonne responded with a 12-3 run taking a 16-13 advantage on Scharnhorst's kill. The two teams met-up at 20-20 and from there went point-for-point. Tied at 28-28, the Griffins put it away with double block from Huster and Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell followed by a kill from Graves for the 30-28 set and match win.

Set Notes

Set 1: It was a close contest early in the first, but the Griffins expanded its lead out to 16-11 on a double block from Huster and Graves.

The Vikings rallied off a 5-0 run forcing Fontbonne to take a timeout. Out of the break, the Griffins collected two straight points and never looked back going on for the 25-20 win.

Fontbonne posted 10 kills and a .185 hitting percentage. Ryan Lively led with four kills and a .500 hitting percentage.

Set 2: The Vikings held the lead early in the second, however, the Griffins evened it up at 12-12 on Lively's kill. From there, the Griffins rattled off a 3-0 run with Paasch's kill giving Fontbonne a 15-12 advantage.

The Griffins held onto its marginal lead the rest of the way with Lively's kill securing the 25-21 victory. Fontbonne posted 13 kills in the set led by Lively with a near perfect set of six kills on eight swings for a .750 hitting percentage.

Set 3: Set three belonged to Fontbonne. After a double block by the Vikings to tie it up at 5-5, the Griffins dominated the rest of the way finishing the set out on a 20-4 run for the 25-9 set and match win.

Fontbonne had 14 kills on 23 swings for a .522 hitting percentage. Lively was near perfect again with six kills on nine swings for a .667 hitting percentage. Graves contributed three kills on five swings.

• Augustana was limited to 22 kills and 21 errors for a .012 hitting percentage.
