Fontbonne Men's Volleyball Takes Down Mount Union In Battle Of MCVL Unbeatens
ALLIANCE, Ohio.—In a battle of the final two unbeaten teams in the MCVL, the Fontbonne University men’s volleyball team came out on top with a four-set win over Mount Union.

ALLIANCE, Ohio.—In a battle of the final two unbeaten teams in the MCVL, the Fontbonne University men's volleyball team came out on top with a four-set win over Mount Union.
Final: Fontbonne 3, Mount Union 1 (25-22, 17-25, 25-23, 25-18)

Records: Fontbonne (16-6; 5-0 MCVL), Mount Union (8-9; 5-1 MCVL)
Set Notes
Set 1: The first set didn't disappoint with neither team giving away and eventually were all square at 15-15. However, the Griffins went on a 3-0 run with a kill from Ryan Lively giving Fontbonne an 18-15 advantage.
After a timeout, the Purple Raiders got the deficit to within two but Fontbonne fended them off for the 25-22 win on Braden Woolsey's kill.
Fontbonne had 14 kills and a .265 hitting percentage in the first led by Joseph Huster and Lively with four kills each.
Set 2: The Purple Raiders put Fontbonne in a 14-6 hole in the second set. The Griffins trimmed the deficit to 21-17, however, the Purple Raiders were able to go on for the 25-17 win.
Set 3: It was Mount Union once again holding a 15-12 lead forcing Fontbonne to take a timeout. Out of the break, the Griffins eventually tied it up at 16-16 and grabbed a 21-20 advantage later in the set on Nate Paasch's kill.
From there, the Griffins finished off the Purple Raiders on Huster's kill for the 25-23 victory. Fontbonne had a match-high 19 kills in the set led by Lively with eight. Kolin Scharnhorst had five kills on eight swings.
Set 4: The Purple Raiders took a 9-4 lead on Luke Trezciak's kill. Fontbonne rattled off a 10-2 run taking a 14-11 lead on Lively's kill. The Griffins maintained its lead the rest of the way securing the 25-18 set and match win.
