Lights out as Griffins produce a team no-hitter plus Cerutti's single-inning double, triple and home run
St. Louis- Fontbonne University softball won a pair of games against Principia College on Tuesday at Principia. The Griffins tallied 45 hits scoring 40 runs over both games.
Opening up St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, the Griffins put up nine runs in the top of the second, seven in the third, and one in the fourth to seal the win, which included seven doubles and a home run by Cassie Glixman. Madi Leonard struck out seven in her four innings of work with Michelle Boyer coming in to finish the game. Boyer struck out all three batters she faced. The two pitchers and their defense shut down the Panthers 17-0 en route to a team no-hitter.
In Game 2, the Griffins scored 16 runs in the second inning. Sarah Cerutti hit a double, triple, and her 4th home run of the season during that inning. Danni Glixman finished the 23-0 win with three doubles while Emily Smith added another two. Jesse Pratt brought in six RBI's with D. Glixman adding five more. Lindsay Schaefer started the second game, throwing three scoreless innings. She was relieved by Boyer and Shelby Faulkner, each adding a scoreless inning to shut out the Panthers.
The Griffins improve to 2-0 in conference play and 14-4 for the year and are currently riding a 9 game winning streak.
The Fontbonne Griffins will take on Iowa Wesleyan College on Saturday with the doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm. The Griffins face Webster University on Sunday, March 30th at 1:00 and 3:00 pm. Both games are played at ABC Ballpark in St. Ann, MO.
