Eureka, Ill. - Fontbonne University softball improves to 10-0 in SLIAC play with two five-inning shutout wins at Eureka College. The Griffins are now 17-9 overall. Four Griffins hit over the fence today as Fontbonne posted 24 runs in 10 innings (Cassi Glixman, Lindsay Schaefer, Danni Glixman, Lauren Faulstich).
Fontbonne scored all their game one runs in the first three innings. The Griffins hit four doubles while Cassi Glixman recorded two of those along with a three-run home run. Madi Leonard struck out seven Red Devils in just three innings of work on the mound.
Cassi hit two more doubles in game two, driving in three runs. Schaefer's first bomb of the season came in the second inning, scoring Smith and giving Fontbonne a 7-0 lead. Danni Glixman hit a two-run home run in the third while Faulstich capped off Fontbonne's scoring when she recorded her first collegiate home run in the fifth inning of game two. Leonard started on the mound once again pitching for three innings, striking out five batters.
Fontbonne has a full week ahead as the Griffins will host Principia Tuesday, travel to Blackburn Wednesday, and host Westminster Thursday.
