Eight Griffins listed as NFCA 2014-15 Scholar Athletes
St. Louis- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced the 2014-15 All-Academic teams and Scholar-Athlete award winners. Fontbonne University's 2015 Softball team was ranked 22nd out of 96 teams. The Griffins were third among St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Teams represented with a 3.450 team GPA. The SLIAC was represented with 39 Scholar Athletes from six participating institutions. Fontbonne, Iowa Wesleyan and Webster each carried eight Scholar-Athletes, with Principia housing seven, Spalding six and Greenville two award winners.
Student-athletes who achieved a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale for the 2014-15 academic year were recognized as NFCA Scholar-Athletes. Eight Griffins were named to the NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Team including Morgan Baer (Biology), Michelle Boyer (Sports Management), Shannon Fitzpatrick (English), Cassi Glixman (Dietetics), Danni Glixman (Business Administration), Isabel Hotop (Dietetics), Caitlin Nappier (Biology) and Emily Smith (Social Work).
Fontbonne University softball has advanced to the national tournament each of the last six years under head coach Bill Rosner and associate head coach Mike Akers. It is the mission of Fontbonne Athletics to excel off the field as well as on the field.
